Dr. Oded Bahat – Biography

Dr. Oded Bahat is a surgeon and teaching clinician who specializes in periodontics, implant placement and reconstructive surgical procedures. Dr. Baht has office locations in Beverly Hills, California as well as London, England. He has also been featured on television, print, and online as an expert in periodontics.

Dr. Bahat has decades of experience under his belt, as he received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of the Witwatersrand School of Medicine and Dentistry, located in South Africa, in 1977. He then went on to earn a specialist certificate in periodontics as well as a Masters of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington in 1981.

For four years following this accomplishment–1983 to 1987—Dr. Baht served as Chairman and Director of Post Doctorate Periodontics at the School of Dentistry within the University of Southern California.

Dr. Bahat is one of the few dental surgeons who has an illustrious career, combining private practice, scientific research, and a teaching career. He has also published more than 50 scientific articles, and helps to edit dental textbook articles, which are then used to educate clinicians and dental students in the most up to date surgical and esthetic reconstructive methods. Dr. Bahat is also a popular lecturer, whose talk and writings have been translated to French, Italian, German, and Japanese. He is also an in demand keynote speaker at international symposiums.

Dr. Bahat is a fellow of the American College of Dentistry and a diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology. He is also on the review board of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants and Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. His impressive reputation as an expert in his field attracts students and clinicians from the far reaches of the globe to train with him and observe his work.

Dr. Bahat’s past honors and awards include: the 1994 Fellow from the American College of Dentistry (FAGD), the 1986 Diplomate via the American Board of Periodontology, the 1977 Rousseau Viljoen Memorial Prize in Oral Medicine, the 1977 African Oxygen Bronze Medal, and the 1973 Academic Scholarship awarded by the University of Witwatersrand.
